Meeting the Needs of Global Dairy Consumers

Emerging markets will drive worldwide demand for dairy products faster than supply can satisfy. These changing dairy markets present both challenges and opportunities for the United States. The U.S. dairy industry is working together to better understand the global dairy marketplace and to address the impact of globalization on the U.S. dairy industry.

We are committed to helping the U.S. dairy industry:

  • Identify and develop strategic programs to help prepare the U.S. dairy industry to compete in the global dairy marketplace
  • Increase the competitiveness of the U.S. dairy industry both domestically and globally
  • Effectively meet consumer needs worldwide, helping to close an anticipated gap in global demand for dairy

Here, Innovation Center partners can learn about efforts that are guiding the U.S. dairy industry to meet the forces of globalization from a position of competitive strength and to increase the potential for future growth.

“Just as in the first study, our latest analysis showed that long-term demand for dairy products will remain strong, driven primarily by emerging markets. At the same time, traditional sources of supply are constrained and will fall short of expected needs. In fact, the demand gap is likely wider than anticipated a few years ago, and the window of opportunity remains open, with the United States as the likely supply source.”
