Innovation Center Updates:
Dairy industry's sustainability efforts gaining momentum
Dairy farms and businesses across the value chain are learning to do more with less, and the U.S. Dairy Sustainability Awards celebrate their accomplishments. The U.S. Dairy Sustainability Commitment also recently completed four years of research and developed a new tool to help industry measure their environmental, social and economic sustainability from farm to table. But that’s not all — the committee also re-signed the Memorandum of Understanding, an important partnership between the Innovation Center for U.S. Dairy and the USDA that will help to advance environmental efforts.

Helping producers cut costs, save energy
The Innovation Center — supported by USDA's Natural Resources and Conservation Service (NRCS) and EnSave, Inc. — is working across the industry to encourage dairy producers, who want to reduce on-farm energy costs, to immediately apply for a farm energy audit at their local NRCS field office. Funds that virtually pay for an energy audit are available through the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP). Call 800-732-1399 or go to
USDairy.com/Save Energy for resources and information.
