Sustainability progress across the supply chain 

U.S. Dairy launched a portfolio of greenhouse gas reduction projects in 2009 to reduce GHG emissions and other environmental impacts along the dairy value chain. The projects for industry resulted in the resources, case studies, and best practices featured below.

Energy usage occurs across the entire dairy value chain, and is an environmental priority. Across the United States, more than 1,000 dairy companies are strategically managing energy used in the production of cheese, butter, yogurt, frozen products and more.

Energy and fuel efficiency is an environmental priority across the dairy value chain, and milk and dairy transporters are committed to continuous improvement. In 2013, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) SmartWay Affiliate Challenge recognized the now completed, Innovation Center-led Dairy Fleet Smart project for its exceptional efforts to promote sustainable transit.
