Industry commitment

The U.S. Dairy Sustainability Commitment builds on the legacy of dairy farm families and businesses. Today, we are working together to provide consumers with the nutritious, responsibly produced products they want while developing a more sustainable food system for the 21st century and beyond.

Experts from academic, government and nongovernment organizations join professionals from the U.S. dairy value chain to measure, improve and communicate dairy’s role in a sustainable food system. We define sustainability as providing consumers with nutritious dairy products they want, in a way that makes the industry, people and the earth economically, environmentally and socially better — now and for future generations.

Partnerships on life cycle assessment science, reporting and innovation projects have helped establish the dairy industry as a national leader in sustainable agriculture.

Our team

Experts in agriculture, life cycle research, sustainability and animal science comprise the Innovation Center for U.S. Dairy® sustainability team and work with members of the dairy industry to advance dairy sustainability through science, tools, tracking and reporting.

Communications tools

Consumers, retailers and others want to know where their food comes from and how it is produced. As part of our commitment to transparency, the Innovation Center for U.S. Dairy® has developed materials to communicate our research findings, project updates, case studies and success stories.
