Dairy Sustainability

The U.S. dairy community has a strong track record of taking care of animals, air, land and water, and is a leader in environmental stewardship efforts.

The future of dairy is happening today. The dairy community is dedicated to addressing climate change and water quality while providing nutritious and affordable foods that promote public wellness.

Every day, dairy farmers impact the land, water and air we all share. But as good environmental stewards, they continuously innovate and adopt new practices and technologies to produce the same amount of food using fewer natural resources, yet still provide all the same great nutrients. By doing this, they minimize that impact and maintain their pledge to providing the world responsibly produced dairy foods that nourish people, strengthen communities and foster a sustainable future.

As part of this pledge, the Innovation Center for U.S. Dairy, founded by America’s dairy farmers, has set aggressive new environmental sustainability goals to achieve greenhouse gas neutrality, optimize water usage and improve water quality by 2050.

That’s our vision: Dairy as an environmental solution. We’re delivering for today, and we’re in it for generations to come.

Together, We Dairy Farm to the Future.

Social Responsibility

The U.S. Dairy Stewardship Commitment is our social responsibility pledge to consumers, customers and other stakeholders. Companies that adopt the U.S. Dairy Stewardship Commitment meet defined criteria for important areas like animal care, the environment and food safety and report on impact in a transparent and meaningful way.
