Fig Whipped Cream Sandwich

Here’s an easy-breezy way to make something that’s almost too pretty to eat. But eat it you will! It has figs and cream, after all. This Fig Cream Sandwich is a symphony of textures: the tenderness of figs, the slight crunch of their seeds and the rich, velvety pillow of cream and bread on which the fruit sits. The combination begs the question, “Is it a sandwich or is it a dessert?” Like a fluffy cloud crossing the big blue sky, this creation from baker-influencer Yujung transcends boundaries and simply is.

Ingredients:

A fig sandwich ready to enjoy served on a tray on a pink napkin along with 2 forks and a cup of tea.

Directions:

  1. In a medium bowl, combine heavy whipping cream and powdered sugar and whip until medium-stiff peaks form, less than 5 minutes.
  2. Place a slice of bread on top of a large piece of plastic wrap. Put a layer of whipped cream on top of bread.
  3. Then place two figs in a vertical line down the center of the bread. The middle line is where you will cut the sandwich later.
  4. Put a generous layer of whipped cream on top of figs. Spread whipped cream to completely cover figs.
  5. Place another slice of bread on top of whipped cream. Gently press and wrap sandwich with plastic wrap.
  6. Chill sandwich in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
  7. Cut wrapped sandwich down the middle. Unwrap and serve.

Notes:

Cut off edges of bread for a consistent look.
